The Koru Spiral design is derived from the unfolding of a silver fern frond. The circular movement towards an inner coil refers to ‘going back to the beginning’. The unfurling frond itself is symbolic for new life, new beginnings and hope.
Each Bali Necklace is hand carved on the tropical island of Bali and shipped from the USA. Because we use 100% natural materials, there may be some slight imperfections in each piece. See our workshop.
- Materials: Repurposed, Water-Buffalo Bone.
- Pendant size: Approximately 2 inches (5 cm).
- Cord: One size fits all. Adjustable, bamboo cotton (choker up to 26 inches).

I was disappointed to find out that the piece was completely flat on the rear side, unlike the other pieces I've ordered, which were rounded on the back with actual detail (like the mouth on the shark). It was so flat, and the edges so 'sharp' that it looks like it's been popped out of a mold.
I had to take a file and round the edges to make it a bit more comfortable when I worry it.
Thank you for your order. We apologize that you found it to be dissapointing, it's actually one of our longest running and more popular carvings. Due to the natural size and shape limitations of water-buffalo bones as well as the difficulty of this carving, we're able to produce it more consistently if we cut the bone flat on the back side. You will find that some of our designs need to be made this way while other designs can be shaped more naturally with the bone. It just depends on the specific design. What we can assure you of, is that none of our designs are made with molds or resins. All of our pieces are hand carved.
With that said, we do take constructive feedback to heart and appreciate it. We may consider rounding the edges on future productions of this carving. Thank you!
