World Oceans Day!
No matter what part of the world you live in, one major thing that we all share are our oceans!
The purpose of the World Oceans Day is to inform the public of the impact of human actions on the ocean, develop a worldwide movement of citizens for the ocean, and mobilize and unite the world’s population on a project for the sustainable management of the world's oceans.
Coral reefs are some of the most diverse ecosystems in the world. Because of the diversity of life found in the habitats created by corals, reefs are often called the "rainforests of the sea." Fishes and other organisms depend on coral reefs for shelter, food, and reproduction.
While less than 1% of the ocean floor consists of coral reefs, they support over 25% of all marine life.
